Events and Gatherings

Upcoming Events/Ways to Get Involved:
  1. “A Planetary Alternative I: New Materialism, Black Thought, and Gravely Attending to to the Climate Apocalypse” by Karen Bray.  Part of “Re-Imagining God and Nature in the Face of Extinction”  by the Westar Institute.  Friday, February 22, 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.  at Peace United Church of Christ (900 High Street)  The event is free for students.  I will be there on Friday evening.  There are Saturday events that you are welcomed and encouraged to attend; I will not be there.  Follow this link for more information.
  2. Worship at Calvary Episcopal Church:  Sunday, February 24th at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. – I’ll be preaching.
  3. Joliene’s Roaming Office Hours:  Tuesday, February 26th from 10:00:00 a.m. – noon at The Abbey.  Come hang ave a cup or coffee or tea on me and join me for a chat, prayer, Bible questions, ideas for events, or whatever.
  4. Bible Discussion/Book Study: Wednesday, February 27th at 7:00 p.m. at Abbott Square. Come hang out, enjoy dinner, a snack and/or drink from a nearby business (on FEAST), and discuss the Bible!  We’ll work thru chapter 9 or Rob Bell’s book.
  5. First Sunday Dinner Church @ Food Lounge:  Sunday, March 3, 6:00 p.m.  Pot luck style dinner, communion, pictures and stories from the Holy Land, community, conversation.  Alcoholic beverages available for purchase.
  6. Joliene’s Roaming Office Hours:  Tuesday, March 5th from 10:00:00 a.m. – noon on campus (location TBD).  Come hang out, ask questions, chat, ask me to proof-read a paper… whatever.  Enjoy a caffeinated (or non-caffeinated) beverage on me.
  7. Ashes on Campus:  Ash Wednesday, March 6, 10:00 a.m. – noon.
  8. Bible Discussion/Book Study: Wednesday, March 6th at 7:00 p.m. at Abbott Square. Come hang out, enjoy dinner, a snack and/or drink from a nearby business (dinner on FEAST), and discuss the Bible!  If you’re reading Rob Bell, we’ll work through chapter 12.
  9. Estuary Restoration Volunteer Event: Saturday, March 9, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Mike Fox Park, Santa Cruz, where we will be restoring the stream banks along the San Lorenzo River to improve habitat for salmon and birds. We would love for you to join us at this event!
